Marjorie Taylor Greene Accuses Trump of ‘Lies’ as Rift Deepens Over Epstein Files
Marjorie Taylor Greene accused Donald Trump of attacking her and trying to block the release of Epstein-related files.

US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene publicly criticised President Donald Trump on Friday, saying he attacked her and spread false claims as Republicans prepare for a crucial vote on whether to release documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein. In a detailed post on X, she wrote: “President Trump just attacked me and lied about me. I haven’t called him at all, but I did send these text messages today. Apparently this is what sent him over the edge.”

Greene said Trump’s anger escalated after she urged his administration to make any Epstein-related files public. She argued that the president was working aggressively to block the release. “It’s astonishing really how hard he’s fighting to stop the Epstein files from coming out that he actually goes to this level,” she wrote.

She further claimed that Trump was “coming after me hard to make an example to scare all the other Republicans before next week’s vote to release the Epstein files.”

Greene said she had spent “too much of my precious time” and “too much of my own money” supporting Trump. But she added: “I don’t worship or serve Donald Trump. I worship God… and I serve my district GA14 and the American people.”

Trump Withdraws His Support

Greene’s remarks followed Trump’s announcement that he was ending his support for her re-election. On Truth Social, he wrote: “I am withdrawing my support and endorsement of ‘Congresswoman’ Marjorie Taylor Greene, of the great state of Georgia.”

Trump accused Greene of constant negativity, saying all he sees her do is “complain, complain, complain.”

According to Reuters, Trump said their dispute began after he shared a poll showing she would struggle to win a Senate or governor’s race without his backing. He also made clear he had no plan to offer such an endorsement.

Trump suggested that voters in her congressional district might consider a primary challenger, adding that he would support “the right candidate” against her in the 2026 midterms.

Why the Rift Grew

Greene insisted the fallout centred on her demand for transparency over any Epstein files held by the administration. Trump has repeatedly brushed off renewed attention on Epstein, calling it a “hoax” pushed by Democrats, according to US media.

Their clash now places Greene once one of Trump’s strongest allies at odds with the president as Republicans head toward a key vote next week.
