NIA Says Red Fort Blast Group Planned Hamas-Style Drone Attack
NIA says the Red Fort blast group planned drone-led attacks inspired by Hamas.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said the group behind the Red Fort blast planned a larger attack. The module wanted to use drones in a Hamas-style strike. The agency arrested another Kashmiri resident linked to the case.

The probe showed that the Jaish module had already started making small rockets. The group planned to use these rockets in serial blasts. NIA officials said the conspirators tried to copy Hamas’s October 2023 attacks in Israel. Hamas had used drones as their main weapon.

NIA Arrests Second Kashmiri Man

NIA arrested another suspect from Kashmir. His name is Jasir Bilal Wani, also known as Danish. He worked closely with suicide bomber Umar Nabi.

The agency said in a statement, “NIA’s investigation has revealed that Wani had provided technical support for carrying out terror attacks by modifying drones and attempting to make rockets ahead of the deadly car bomb blast.”

Investigators found that Nabi instructed Wani to prepare for a fidayeen attack. The two first met at a mosque in Kashmir. Nabi then allegedly radicalised Wani.

What the Group Planned

The module planned to arm drones with cameras, batteries and small but powerful explosives. They wanted to target crowded areas. The plot failed because the agency arrested the members in time.

Officials said these plans matched the methods used by Hamas. The group wanted to fly a weaponised drone over a crowded place to cause maximum casualties. Similar tactics have also been used by armed groups in Syria.
