US President Donald Trump has reportedly given silent approval to a new peace plan aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war. He endorsed a 28-point proposal this week after weeks of internal work as NBC News reported.
According to the report, senior officials “quietly developed” the peace plan in recent weeks. They worked with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev and also held discussions with Ukrainian representatives.
Plan Draws Ideas From Gaza Proposal
Axios first revealed the effort. It said the US plan takes inspiration from Trump’s earlier 20-point Gaza peace proposal. However, officials have not released any details yet.
The senior administration official quoted by NBC declined to outline the terms. The person said the draft is still under negotiation and may change once all sides react.
Ukrainian Leaders Still Await Formal Briefing
Three US officials told the outlet that Ukraine has not yet received the full draft. The plan was completed just as an American Army delegation prepared to visit Kyiv.
That delegation arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday morning. Two US officials, a European official, and a source close to Ukraine said the team had two priorities: to discuss military strategy and technology, and to restart peace talks that have stalled for months.
War Continues Without a Clear End
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 remains Europe’s largest conflict in decades. The fighting is concentrated in the east and south, where drone attacks, long-range strikes, and fierce ground battles continue.
Ukraine, supported by Western weapons and economic aid, is trying to hold territory and push back Russian forces. Meanwhile, Russia is working to secure occupied regions and apply pressure through military and infrastructure attacks.
The war has caused large-scale displacement, thousands of deaths, and a grinding stalemate with no immediate resolution in sight.
