Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed his planned visit to India following security concerns after a deadly terror attack in New Delhi. The visit, originally scheduled for December, would have been his first official trip to India since 2018.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that both countries are now coordinating a new date. Netanyahu reportedly has “full confidence” in India’s security under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Israel’s bond with India and between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very strong. The PM has full confidence in India’s security under PM Modi, and teams are already coordinating a new visit date,” the PMO posted on X.

Security Concerns After Delhi Attack
Israeli media reported that Netanyahu postponed the visit due to safety concerns following the car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort earlier this month. The attack killed several people and injured dozens. The Prime Minister is now expected to set a new date next year, “pending security assessments.”
On November 12, Netanyahu personally offered condolences to PM Modi and the people of India after the attack.
Netanyahu Condoles with India
In a statement on X, Netanyahu described India and Israel as “ancient civilizations that stand on eternal truths.” He added that terror attacks would never weaken their resolve.
“To our dear friend Narendra Modi and to the brave people of India: Sara and I, and the people of Israel, send our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Israel stands strong with you in sorrow and in strength in this time,” the PMO posted.
“India and Israel are ancient civilizations that stand on eternal truths. Terror may strike our cities, but it will never shake our souls. The light of our nations will outshine the darkness of our enemies,” the statement added.
Israeli Foreign Minister Reaffirms Support
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar also expressed condolences to the families of the victims and stressed Israel’s support in India’s fight against terrorism.
“I extend my and Israel’s deepest condolences to the People of India and especially to the families of the innocent victims killed in the blast at the heart of Delhi. Wishing speedy recovery to the wounded. Israel stands with India in its fight against terror,” Sa’ar posted on X.
