Central Government Extends SIR Deadline by Seven Days for All 12 States
The Centre gave states seven more days to submit Special Intensive Revision reports after opposition parties warned that delays could harm the accuracy of the process.

The Union government has extended the deadline for submitting Special Intensive Revision (SIR) by seven days. All 12 states will now get additional time to finish the important task.

The decision came after repeated demands from opposition parties. They asked for more time so that states could complete the process properly.

Delays Trigger Government Action

Officials confirmed that several states faced administrative and logistical problems. These issues slowed down the work. As a result, much of the data collection and reporting could not be completed on time.

According to News18 Rajasthan, these delays forced the Centre to reassess the earlier deadline. Therefore, the government stepped in to prevent mistakes in the final reports.

Draft List to Be Released on December 16

Reports say that the draft list will now be published on December 16. This release will follow the submission of the SIRs by the states. The government wants to ensure that the information in the list is accurate, complete, and free from errors.

“Significant Intervention” to Protect Accuracy

Authorities described the extension as a “significant intervention.” They believe the extra time will help states submit correct and verified records.

Rather than rushing the process, the Centre wants to maintain proper procedures and avoid any compromise in quality.

Opposition Raises Concerns Over Timeline

Earlier, opposition leaders had questioned the original deadline. They said the timeframe was unrealistic. They also warned that rushing could “undermine the integrity of the process.”

Their concerns played a key role in pushing the Centre to reconsider and eventually extend the deadline.
