Shrachi Bengal Tigers showed strong nerves in a tense Women’s Hero Hockey India League 2025–26 match, defeating SG Pipers in a shootout after the teams finished level at 3-3 in regulation time. The contest went down to sudden death in the shootout, where Lalremsiami converted the decisive attempt to secure the bonus point for the Tigers.

Goal Scorers in Regulation Time

For Shrachi Bengal Tigers, Agustina Gorzelany scored twice in the 6th and 18th minutes, while Lalremsiami added another goal in the 11th minute.

SG Pipers responded through Lola Riera, who scored in the 10th and 60th minutes, and Sunelita Toppo, who found the net in the 59th minute.

Fast Start and Early Exchanges

The Tigers began the match with intent and made an early circle entry. However, SG Pipers absorbed the early pressure well and countered with quick passing moves that tested the Tigers’ backline.

Soon after, Shrachi Bengal Tigers earned two penalty corners in quick succession. They converted the second one when Agustina Gorzelany struck in the 6th minute to open the scoring.

The Pipers reacted immediately. They won a penalty corner of their own, and Lola Riera made no mistake in the 10th minute to bring the scores level.

Tigers Regain Control Before Half-Time

The equal score did not last long. Just a minute later, Lalremsiami produced a smart deflection to restore the Tigers’ lead, making it 2-1 by the end of the first quarter.

The Tigers then strengthened their grip in the second quarter. Gorzelany struck again from a penalty corner in the 18th minute to extend the lead to 3-1.

SG Pipers pushed hard before the break, but Tigers goalkeeper Jennifer Rizzo stood tall. She made several important saves to ensure her side went into half-time with a two-goal cushion.

Pipers Apply Pressure After the Break

SG Pipers started the third quarter aggressively and earned an early penalty corner. However, they failed to convert. Despite this setback, they continued to apply pressure with repeated circle entries and sustained attacks.

The Tigers defended with discipline and relied on steady goalkeeping to deny the Pipers. As a result, the third quarter ended without any goals, with Shrachi Bengal Tigers still leading 3-1.

Dramatic Late Comeback in Final Quarter

The fourth quarter followed a similar pattern, with SG Pipers dominating possession and controlling the pace of the game. Their persistence finally paid off late in the match.

With just over two minutes remaining, the Pipers won a penalty corner. Captain Navneet Kaur fired a powerful shot, which Sunelita Toppo deflected in the 59th minute to reduce the gap to one goal.

The pressure intensified in the final moments. In the dying seconds, SG Pipers earned a penalty stroke. Lola Riera calmly converted it in the 60th minute to complete a stunning comeback and level the match at 3-3.

Shootout Drama and Sudden Death

With no winner after regulation time, the match went into a shootout. Both teams converted three attempts each, keeping the contest finely balanced at 3-3.

The shootout then moved into sudden death. SG Pipers missed their chances on two occasions, while Lalremsiami kept her composure and scored for the Tigers. Her successful attempt sealed the bonus point and capped off a thrilling encounter for Shrachi Bengal Tigers.
