ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026: Strong All-Round Show Helps Zimbabwe Register a Comfortable Victory Over Oman
Zimbabwe dominated Oman with a strong bowling display to restrict them to 103 and then chased the target comfortably in 13.3 overs to begin their T20 World Cup campaign on a high.

Zimbabwe crushed Oman by eight wickets in the 8th match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. Oman batted first after Zimbabwe invited them to the crease. Blessing Muzarabani (3/16 in 4 overs) and Richard Ngarava (3/17 in 4 overs) destroyed Oman’s top order in the first seven overs. Oman slipped to 27/5 after seven overs. The team struggled to even think about crossing the 50-run mark at that stage.

Sufyan Mehmood and Vinayak Shukla tried to rebuild the innings. They added some stability and pushed the score close to the 70-run mark. Nadeem Khan then played a short cameo and helped Oman cross 100 runs. Oman lost all wickets for 103 with one ball left. Brad Evans (3/18 in 3.5 overs) finished the job for Zimbabwe. Captain Sikandar Raza also picked up one wicket.

Player of the Match: Blessing Muzarabani
Zimbabwe’s bowling was exceptional in the match. Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, and Brad Evans demolished Oman’s batting line-up and also kept the run rate under control. This was an important factor, as T20 matches can be won only if a team bowls well and restricts the opposition from scoring runs.

Oman struggled throughout the match. When they were batting, Zimbabwe’s bowlers did not allow them to hit freely, and when they were bowling, Zimbabwe’s batsmen picked them at will. Oman need to improve both their batting as well as bowling to stay in contention for advancing to the next round, although it seems difficult for them after this heavy defeat.
