US-Israel-Iran War: Roar of the Lion, Epic Fury, True Promise 4; Symbolic Operation Names Signal Strength and Retaliation
The military operations by the US, Israel, and Iran carry symbolic names that reflect strategic intentions and signal strength, retaliation, and escalation in the ongoing conflict.

US-Israel-Iran War: The latest military exchange between the United States, Israel, and Iran has drawn attention not only for the scale of the strikes but also for the powerful names given to each campaign. From “Operation Roar Of The Lion” to “Operation Epic Fury” and “True Promise 4,” each title carries a strategic message and reflects how the sides want the conflict to be perceived.

The strikes followed strong remarks from US President Donald Trump, who expressed frustration over Iran’s position in negotiations related to its nuclear and missile programmes. Trump said Washington’s objective was “eliminating imminent threats" from Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also justified the military action, stating that the operation aimed to remove an “existential threat".

Israel’s “Operation Roar Of The Lion”

Israel officially named its offensive “Operation Roar Of The Lion.” Netanyahu personally selected the name to describe the pre-emptive air and missile strikes that began on February 28. The government replaced an earlier internal codename used by the Israel Defence Forces.

The lion symbol holds strong meaning in Israeli culture and military tradition. It represents power, vigilance, and historic endurance. The name also echoes earlier Israeli operations that used similar imagery. Netanyahu has repeatedly said the campaign is necessary to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and to eliminate what he calls an existential danger to Israel.

United States’ “Operation Epic Fury”

The United States labeled its role in the joint campaign “Operation Epic Fury.” The US military formally adopted the name, and President Trump announced it publicly. He described the mission as a major combat operation designed to weaken Iran’s missile systems and broader military capabilities.

Trump has presented the offensive as a response to what he calls “imminent threats” from Iran’s nuclear activities and its actions in the region. The name “Epic Fury” suggests a powerful and sustained military effort rather than a limited strike.

Iran’s “True Promise 4” Retaliation

In response, Iran launched ballistic missiles toward Israel under the operation name “True Promise 4.” The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said: “The confrontation against the aggression of the criminal American army and the “child-killing" zionist regime, with divine help, has begun with the implementation of the first phase of Operation “True Promise 4," through extensive attacks carried out by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran on regional targets of the aggressor enemy."

The title “True Promise 4” continues a series of similarly named Iranian operations. Tehran has used this naming pattern during previous missile and drone strikes targeting Israel or when responding to Israeli actions.

What the Names Reveal

Each operation name reflects a deliberate message. “Roar Of The Lion” projects Israeli strength and readiness. “Epic Fury” signals a large-scale American military commitment. “True Promise 4” frames Iran’s response as part of an ongoing cycle of retaliation.

Together, these names show how all three sides aim to shape the narrative of the conflict. They combine historic symbolism and martial language to send clear signals to domestic audiences, regional rivals, and the international community as military exchanges continue and tensions remain high.
