The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed Class 10 and Class 12 board exams in several Middle Eastern countries as tensions rise in the region. The board issued a fresh notice on Tuesday and confirmed that exams scheduled for March 5 and 6 will not take place.
However, CBSE did not announce new dates. Instead, it said it will inform schools and students about the revised schedule later.
Earlier, the board had already postponed the March 2 exams in some West Asian countries. Therefore, the latest notice extends that earlier decision.
Countries Affected by the Postponement
CBSE has suspended exams in the following countries:
-
United Arab Emirates (Dubai and Abu Dhabi)
-
Bahrain
-
Iran (Tehran)
-
Saudi Arabia (Riyadh)
-
Kuwait
-
Oman (Muscat)
-
Qatar
CBSE Advises Students to Stay Alert
Meanwhile, CBSE asked students to remain in close contact with their schools. The board stressed the importance of following official updates.
“All students are advised to stay in touch with their schools for updates and follow official announcements carefully,” the circular issued by CBSE Controller of Examinations Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj had said.
Conflict Escalation Triggers Safety Concerns
The board took this step as the security situation worsened in the Middle East. The crisis intensified after joint strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran. In response, counterattacks targeted US bases and embassies in several countries, including Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
In addition, reports confirmed attacks in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. These incidents increased anxiety among residents and tourists.
After a drone attack near the US embassy in Riyadh, authorities advised Americans in Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and Israel to leave the region at the earliest.
As a result, CBSE acted to protect students and school staff. The board will announce new exam dates once the situation stabilises.
