Thick smoke rose from a major oil facility in Bahrain after an Iranian drone strike. The attack targeted key energy infrastructure as the regional conflict widened across the Gulf.

The strike hit the Bapco Energies refinery on Sitra island, located south of the capital Manama. Videos shared online showed large plumes of dark smoke rising from the refinery. Emergency teams quickly rushed to the site to control the fire.

Officials later said crews contained the blaze. They added that refinery operations continued while authorities checked the damage.

Fire Breaks Out at Refinery Unit

Bahraini authorities said the strike triggered a fire at one of the refinery’s processing units. In a statement, the National Communication Centre said, “A fire broke out at a unit of the Bapco Energies refinery following an Iranian missile strike.”

Firefighters responded quickly and stopped the flames from spreading. Authorities later confirmed that “The fire has been fully contained.”

Officials said they had not received any immediate reports of casualties at the refinery. However, teams continued to inspect the site to assess the damage.

Drone Attacks Injure Civilians

Although the refinery fire caused no reported deaths, the wider wave of drone attacks injured civilians in Bahrain.The country’s health ministry said at least 32 people were wounded. Several victims remain in serious condition.

The strikes also damaged homes and nearby buildings. This shows that the conflict has begun to affect residential areas.
