US Strikes Iranian Missile Sites Near Strait of Hormuz
US launches fresh strikes on Iranian missile sites near Hormuz, raising fears of a prolonged conflict and global trade disruption.

The United States has launched fresh strikes on Iranian missile positions along the coast near the Strait of Hormuz. This marks a major escalation in the ongoing conflict.

The United States Central Command said the operation, named Operation Epic Fury, targeted heavily protected missile facilities. These sites were seen as a direct threat to global shipping routes.

“Hours ago, US forces successfully employed multiple 5,000-pound deep penetrator munitions on hardened Iranian missile sites along Iran’s coastline near the Strait of Hormuz,” Centcom posted on X.

“The Iranian anti-ship cruise missiles in these sites posed a risk to international shipping in the strait,” the statement added.

Fears of a Longer Conflict

These strikes have raised concerns that the fight over Hormuz could continue for a longer time. Some officials believe the conflict may stretch further. One source said, “This could extend the war by as much as two months.”

At the same time, global trade routes are already under pressure. Iran has warned it could target ships. As a result, many vessels are avoiding the strait.

The Strait of Hormuz handles nearly 20% of the world’s oil supply. Recent satellite images show ships waiting outside the area instead of passing through.

US Considers Next Steps

The administration of Donald Trump is now focusing on keeping the waterway open. Officials are considering further military action. Reports suggest the US may even look at a ground operation on Kharg Island, a key Iranian oil facility located in the middle of the strait.

To strengthen its presence, the US has deployed 5,000 Marines to the region.

US-Israel Coordination Continues

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed close coordination with Washington after speaking with Trump.

“There is coordination between our air forces and navies. We will assist both through indirect actions that place immense pressure on the Iranian regime and through direct operations. There are many more surprises ahead.”

However, an Israeli official said that support is currently limited to intelligence sharing. “But that can always change,” the official added.
