Iran Claims It Shot Down F-15 Near Strait of Hormuz
Iranian media claimed its air defence shot down an enemy F-15 near the Strait of Hormuz, though the incident remains unverified and adds to rising regional tensions.

Iranian state-linked media reported that its air defence forces shot down an enemy fighter jet near Hormuz Island. According to the report, the aircraft was an F-15 jet that Iranian forces targeted using a surface-to-air missile.

Tehran Times shared the claim on social media. It said the jet entered Iranian airspace over the southern coast before being intercepted and destroyed near the Strait of Hormuz.

The report described the operation as a successful response by Iranian air defence systems against what it called a hostile intrusion.

Video Clip Suggests Possible Interception

The claim included a short video clip. The footage appeared to show an infrared system tracking a target in the sky. A bright flash followed, which suggested a possible strike or interception.

However, the video does not provide clear proof of the aircraft being shot down.

No Independent Confirmation Yet

So far, there is no independent verification of the incident. Neither the United States nor Israel has confirmed losing any F-15 aircraft. This lack of confirmation leaves the claim uncertain.

Tensions Rise After Trump’s Warning

The report comes soon after US President Donald Trump issued a strong warning to Iran. He gave a 48-hour deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He also threatened military action if Iran fails to comply. “hit and obliterate" Iran’s power plants, starting with the largest one, if access is not restored.

Strategic Importance of Hormuz

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most sensitive maritime routes in the world. A large share of global oil supply passes through this narrow channel.

Any military activity in this region raises immediate concerns about energy security and global stability.

Growing Military Activity in the Region

The situation has become more tense in recent days. Several countries have reported drone interceptions and missile engagements across the Gulf region.

Defence experts warn that such incidents could quickly escalate. Any retaliatory action may trigger a wider conflict in the region.
