Iran Signals Willingness to Negotiate with JD Vance Over US Envoys
Iran signals willingness to negotiate with US Vice President JD Vance as diplomatic efforts to end the war gain momentum.

Iranian representatives preparing for negotiations with the United States have shown interest in engaging directly with JD Vance instead of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

According to reports, this message was communicated through back channels. Iranian officials believe discussions with Witkoff and Kushner may not be effective, mainly due to a lack of trust after earlier talks broke down before the US and Israel launched their military campaign three weeks ago.

Vance seen as more open to ending conflict

Sources said Iran views Vance as more willing to push for peace compared to other US officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio. “The perception is that Vance would be intent on wrapping up the conflict,” one source said. However, regional experts warn that involving Vance in negotiations could be risky, as reaching a final agreement to end the war may not be easy.

US negotiating team still uncertain

Despite Iran’s preference, Witkoff remains closely involved in US diplomatic efforts. Sources indicate that Iran may ultimately have to negotiate with whoever is officially appointed by the administration of Donald Trump.

Khamenei signals readiness for talks

In a key development, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has agreed to enter negotiations with the US. This move suggests a possible opening for diplomacy amid ongoing hostilities.

Trump claims progress in discussions

Trump said that recent talks between Washington and Tehran had led to “major points of agreement.” He told reporters that discussions began on Sunday and could continue, raising hopes of a near-term deal. He also mentioned that Witkoff and Kushner were involved in these discussions with Iranian representatives.

Peace plan proposed by US

Trump has sent a peace proposal to Iran and expressed optimism about ending the conflict, which has lasted nearly a month. At the same time, Tehran has indicated it will allow “non-hostile” oil vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump repeats ‘gift’ claim

While speaking at the Oval Office, Trump repeated his earlier claim about receiving a “gift” from Iran. “They did something yesterday that was amazing actually. They gave us a present and the present arrived today. And it was a very big present worth a tremendous amount of money,” he said. “That meant one thing to me – we’re dealing with the right people.”
