West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attacked the BJP during a rally in Purulia on Sunday. She warned that people’s food choices could face restrictions if the party comes to power in the state.
Raises Concerns Over Food Habits
Addressing the crowd, Mamata Banerjee said BJP-ruled states restrict certain food practices. She claimed that such policies could affect West Bengal as well.
"Fish is not eaten in BJP-ruled states. If the BJP comes, you won't be able to eat meat or eggs. BJP is one-sided, they don't believe in any religion,” she said.
Accuses BJP of Using Violence
Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee intensified her criticism. She accused the BJP of using violence and communal tensions to gain power.
“These people incite riots. They come to power by inciting riots, they come to power by killing people... The most attacks on tribals, attacks on women happen in BJP-ruled states... Our Bengali-speaking people are attacked in other states. We don't oppress anyone,” she said.

Furthermore, she claimed that Bengali-speaking people face attacks in other states. She added that her government does not discriminate or oppress any group.
Election Schedule Announced
Meanwhile, authorities will conduct the West Bengal Assembly elections in two phases. The first phase will take place on April 23, while the second phase will be held on April 29.
Finally, officials will count the votes on May 4.
