Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh entered an unwanted record list on Tuesday (March 1) after delivering an 11-ball over during the IPL 2026 opener. The Indian bowler, who holds the record as India’s highest wicket-taker in T20 Internationals, achieved this unusual feat while playing for Punjab Kings against Gujarat Titans.
Expensive Final Over in Mullanpur
The match took place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. Arshdeep was handed the responsibility of bowling the final over of Gujarat Titans’ innings.
However, the over turned costly as he bowled four wides and one no-ball before completing the six legal deliveries, stretching the over to 11 balls.
Joins List of Bowlers With Longest Overs
Arshdeep became the latest bowler to register an 11-ball over in IPL history. Before him, five other bowlers had recorded similar unwanted feats — Mohammed Siraj, Tushar Deshpande, Shardul Thakur, Sandeep Sharma, and Hardik Pandya.
Siraj was the first to record this in IPL history. He bowled an 11-ball over while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Mumbai Indians in the 2023 season at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Interestingly, the 2025 IPL season saw three such instances, highlighting how rare but recurring this issue has become.
Costly Spell for Punjab Kings
Arshdeep, who is also Punjab Kings’ leading wicket-taker in IPL history, struggled in the match. He bowled his full quota of four overs but failed to take a wicket and conceded 42 runs.
His final over not only impacted the match but also placed him in an unwanted record list in IPL history.
