US President Donald Trump is set to address the nation on Thursday night, as tensions between the United States and Iran continue to rise. The White House said the speech will provide an important update on the ongoing conflict.
Press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the address on X, stating: “TUNE IN: Tomorrow night at 9PM ET, President Trump will give an Address to the Nation to provide an important update on Iran.”

The announcement comes as the US-Israeli conflict with Iran enters its second month. Public concern is growing, and recent opinion polls show increasing disapproval of the military campaign.
Possible US Troop Deployment in Iran
Reports suggest that the US administration is considering sending troops into Iran to secure its highly enriched uranium stockpile.
Former defence official Mick Mulroy described such an operation as one of the “most complicated special operations in history.” The mission would likely involve elite forces entering Iranian territory to retrieve radioactive material.
This would place American troops at serious risk, including potential attacks from missiles and drones.
Military Strikes Intensify
US military activity in the region has already increased. On Tuesday, American forces carried out strikes on an Iranian city connected to a key nuclear facility.
The Isfahan Nuclear Energy Center—which had earlier been targeted by US B-2 bombers and a submarine—is believed to store a large portion of Iran’s enriched uranium.
Iran Denies Talks with US
On the diplomatic front, signals remain unclear. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei denied that any formal negotiations have taken place.
“We have had no negotiations with America in these thirty-one days.”
“What has occurred is the submission of a negotiation request, accompanied by a set of proposals from America, which has reached us through certain intermediaries, including Pakistan,” he added.
Despite this denial, US officials say indirect communication channels are still active through mediators.
Trump Signals Possible End to Conflict
President Trump has indicated that he is aiming to reach a deal with Iran and possibly end the conflict within weeks.
“We’ll be leaving very soon,” Trump told reporters, adding that the withdrawal could happen “within two weeks, maybe two weeks, maybe three.”
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also highlighted the seriousness of the situation, saying the “upcoming days will be decisive.”
US May Step Back from Hormuz Role
Trump has suggested that the United States may reduce its direct role in securing the Strait of Hormuz. He argued that European countries, which rely heavily on the route for energy supplies, should take more responsibility.
While he is not ready to withdraw US forces “quite yet,” Trump stressed that other nations “have to come in and take care of it.”
Some US allies have been hesitant to commit forces, especially while the conflict remains active.
Situation Remains Uncertain
The conflict continues to evolve, with both military and diplomatic developments unfolding at the same time. While there are signs of possible negotiations, uncertainty remains high.
For now, attention is focused on Trump’s upcoming address, which is expected to provide clarity on the next steps in the US approach toward Iran.
