Trump Removes Army Chief, Sparks Global Attention and Iran’s Mockery
US faces internal turmoil as top military and political leaders are abruptly removed during a critical time of conflict.

Iran openly mocked Donald Trump’s administration after War Secretary Pete Hegseth removed US Army Chief General Randy George during the ongoing West Asia conflict. The Pentagon confirmed the decision and stated that he “will be retiring from his position as the 41st Chief of Staff of the Army effective immediately”, drawing global attention to the sudden leadership change.

Multiple Military Leaders Fired

Pete Hegseth also dismissed several top military officials, including General David Hodne and Major General William Green, as part of a broader leadership shake-up. Meanwhile, Iran’s South African embassy reacted by sharing edited images of US military leaders online, adding the caption, “The regime change happened successfully,” and referencing “MAGA” to mock the situation.

Growing Pentagon Instability

The removal of General George reflects increasing instability within the Pentagon, as leadership changes continue to affect top positions. Officials have not provided a clear reason for his dismissal, but several analysts believe he may have opposed a possible ground invasion in Iran, which could have influenced the decision.

Military Operations Context

The US continues to carry out major operations in the region, mainly through the Navy and Air Force, while the Army supports air defence systems. Despite having around 450,000 active-duty soldiers, the Army has also deployed elite units, including forces from the 82nd Airborne Division, indicating possible preparation for ground operations.

Leadership Transition

Authorities have assigned General Christopher LaNeve to take charge in an acting role following George’s removal. George, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and became Army Chief in 2023, held a key leadership position and played an important role in military planning before his sudden exit.

Internal Political Shake-Up

Donald Trump has also removed several key members of his administration during the conflict, showing ongoing internal changes within his leadership team. These actions suggest a broader restructuring effort as the administration responds to both external and internal pressures.

Controversies and Tensions

Pam Bondi faced criticism for her handling of sensitive legal cases, while Kristi Noem dealt with backlash over law enforcement incidents and disaster response issues. These controversies increased tensions within the administration and contributed to the growing instability among Trump’s top officials.
