The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday criticised the central government over rising prices, claiming that the cost of household LPG cylinders may go up after the assembly elections in five states conclude.
AAP Raises Concerns Over Inflation
AAP’s national media in-charge Anurag Dhanda said that prices of several key items have already increased in recent weeks. These include commercial LPG cylinders, fuel, and other essential goods.
Speaking at a press conference, Dhanda claimed that the price of commercial LPG cylinders has risen by ₹525 in the last two months. He said this increase has pushed up food prices in restaurants and delivery services.
Rising Costs Across Sectors
Dhanda also pointed out that premium petrol prices have gone up recently. He added that the prices of everyday items such as cement, bread, and footwear have also increased.
He further raised concerns about aviation turbine fuel (ATF), saying that higher fuel costs could lead to a rise in airfares for both domestic and international travel.
Allegation of Post-Election Price Hike
The AAP leader alleged that while commercial LPG prices have already been revised, domestic LPG cylinder prices have remained unchanged because of the ongoing elections.
He suggested that the government may increase household LPG prices once the polling process is over. However, he did not provide official data to support these claims.
Other Price Pressures Highlighted
Dhanda also claimed that toll charges have been increased. He linked the overall rise in prices to a mix of global factors and domestic policy decisions, saying these are adding to the financial burden on the public.
