Israeli officials have expressed dissatisfaction with the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran. The deal came after US President Donald Trump announced a two-week pause in hostilities following the deadline on Tuesday.
According to a report by CNN, Israel has agreed to follow the ceasefire. However, it has done so unwillingly, as it still has additional military targets and objectives it wants to pursue inside Iran.
Talks Planned After Weeks of Conflict
After more than a month of intense attacks by the US and Israel, Iran confirmed that it is ready to begin negotiations with Washington. These talks are scheduled to start Friday in Pakistan, aiming to find a path to end the conflict.
Trump said he spoke with Pakistan’s leadership, who urged him to delay further military action.
He stated, “Subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Missile Claims Raise Fresh Concerns
Meanwhile, Israel claimed that Iran launched missiles toward its territory even after the ceasefire announcement. In response, the Israeli military issued three quick alerts.
The military said, “The (Israeli army) identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel. Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat,” the military said on its official Telegram channel.
US Halts Offensive Operations
At the same time, a US official confirmed that America has stopped all offensive military actions against Iran. The official told The Times of Israel that defensive operations will continue to remain active.
Iran Assures Safe Passage in Strait of Hormuz
On Wednesday, Iran announced that it would ensure safe movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks.
Abbas Araghchi shared the update and said, “For a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible via coordination with Iran’s Armed Forces and with due consideration of technical limitations,”
Therefore, this temporary arrangement will support upcoming talks with the US in Islamabad.
Uncertain Calm Amid Ongoing Tensions
Overall, the ceasefire has reduced immediate hostilities. However, tensions remain high due to Israel’s concerns and fresh missile claims. For now, the focus shifts to upcoming negotiations, which could decide whether this temporary pause leads to a lasting peace.
