Anna Kendrick’s Old Remark on Katy Perry Resurfaces Amid Ruby Rose Allegations
Old remarks by Anna Kendrick about Katy Perry resurface as fresh allegations by Ruby Rose reignite debate on consent in the entertainment industry.

As new allegations against Katy Perry make headlines, an old interview of Anna Kendrick from 2014 has resurfaced. The clip has drawn renewed scrutiny, with people now reassessing what was earlier dismissed as humour.

At the time, Kendrick had described the incident in a light-hearted way, and many treated it as a playful exchange between celebrities. However, changing views around consent and personal boundaries have led to a different interpretation today.

The Resurfaced Anecdote

In a 2014 appearance on Conan hosted by Conan O’Brien, Kendrick shared an unusual moment involving Perry at the Grammy Awards. She said, “Katy Perry finger-banged my cleavage. It was a weird night.”

Kendrick added, “I was kind of asking for it. If nobody had done it, I would’ve been a little sad. And she’s aggressive. I like it” Back then, the comment was largely brushed off as a joke. It was seen as part of the candid and sometimes exaggerated storytelling common in celebrity interviews.

Changing Perspectives on Consent

Today, the same anecdote is being viewed through a more serious lens. Conversations around consent, boundaries, and power dynamics have evolved significantly in recent years. What was once treated as a humorous or shocking story is now being reconsidered as part of a broader discussion about how certain behaviours are normalised or minimised in the entertainment industry.

Why the Story Is Trending Again

The renewed focus comes after fresh allegations made by Ruby Rose. She has accused Perry of sexual assault in an incident she claims happened nearly 20 years ago. Rose said, “Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s*** what she thinks.”

She also described the alleged incident in detail, saying, “She didn’t kiss me. She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her. After it I threw up on her, I told the story publicly but changed it to be a ‘funny little drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it.”

Rose further explained why she did not speak out earlier. “Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person. ”

Reflecting on the long delay, she added, “I was only in my early 20s. I’m now 40. It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly. Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me.”

Katy Perry Denies Allegations

Perry has firmly rejected the accusations. Her representatives called the claims baseless and harmful. The statement said, “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies.”

Wider Debate in the Industry

Although Kendrick has not commented again on her earlier remarks, the resurfacing of her interview highlights how context and public understanding can shift over time.

With Rose’s allegations bringing Perry under scrutiny, older incidents and stories are now being revisited. This has added another layer to the ongoing conversation about consent, accountability, and how such experiences are interpreted in the entertainment world.
