BJP Scripts Historic Win in West Bengal, Says PM Modi
PM Narendra Modi hailed BJP’s landmark victory in West Bengal, calling it a historic moment and promising to fulfil people’s aspirations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday that the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election will be “remembered forever.” He said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has created history by forming the government in the state for the first time since independence.

In a post on X, Modi said the party’s focus on good governance has “triumphed.” He also assured people that the new government will work to meet their expectations and aspirations.

PM thanks party workers

Modi thanked BJP workers for their role in the victory. He said their efforts made this result possible.

“I salute them all. For years, they have worked hard on the ground, overcome all sorts of adversities and spoken about our development agenda. They are the strength of our Party," he said.

End of TMC’s long rule

The BJP’s win has ended Mamata Banerjee’s 15-year rule in West Bengal. The party has crossed the 200-seat mark in the Assembly. Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has suffered a major setback, with its tally falling below 100 seats.
