Kuwait’s army said on Thursday that its air defence systems intercepted hostile missiles and drones as tensions continued to rise amid the ongoing US-Iran conflict.
The military did not reveal where the missiles and drones came from. However, the incident added to growing fears of wider instability in the Gulf region.
In a statement posted on X, the Kuwait Army said, “The General Staff of the Army notes that any explosion sounds heard are the result of air defense systems intercepting the hostile attacks.”
The military also urged people across the country to follow security and safety instructions issued by authorities.

Escalation Follows Trump’s Strait Of Hormuz Remarks
The latest developments came only hours after US President Donald Trump rejected reports from Iranian state television claiming Tehran had secured an unofficial draft agreement related to the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iranian media reports, the proposed understanding aimed to restore commercial shipping traffic in the strategic waterway within a month. Iran and Oman were reportedly expected to jointly supervise maritime movement in the region.
However, Trump strongly dismissed the idea during a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
“Nobody's going to control the strait,” Trump said. “It's international waters and Oman will behave just like everybody else or we'll have to blow them up.”

US Conducts Fresh Strikes In Iran
The United States also carried out new military strikes inside Iran on Wednesday despite ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran to end their three-month conflict.
According to reports, US forces shot down four Iranian drones near the Strait of Hormuz and targeted a drone control centre in Bandar Abbas, a key southern Iranian port city.
A US official, speaking anonymously, told AFP, "Today, US Central Command Forces shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that posed a threat around the Strait of Hormuz. US forces also struck an Iranian ground control station in Bandar Abbas that was about to launch a fifth drone."
Another US official told Reuters, “These actions were measured, purely defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire.”
Iran Claims Strike On US Airbase
Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they launched strikes on a US airbase early Thursday morning.
According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, the attack happened at 4:50 am local time and came in response to what Iran described as an earlier US strike near Bandar Abbas airport.
The exchange of attacks has further intensified tensions in the Gulf and raised concerns about possible disruption to global oil shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
