The price of domestic LPG cylinders has increased by ₹29 per cylinder, marking the second hike in the last three months. The latest revision comes as global energy supplies continue to face pressure due to ongoing tensions in West Asia. According to industry sources cited by PTI, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen from ₹913 to ₹942. The revised rates came into effect on Sunday, June 7.
Second Cooking Gas Price Hike in Three Months
This latest increase follows a major hike in March when domestic LPG prices were raised by ₹60 per cylinder in Delhi. That revision came after global energy markets experienced volatility following the US-Iran conflict. As a result, households are once again facing higher cooking fuel costs amid continued uncertainty in international energy markets.
Global Supply Constraints Drive LPG Price Increase
Industry sources said the fresh increase is linked to constrained global fuel supplies and rising energy costs. The revision comes even as consumers have already seen increases in the prices of petrol, diesel, aviation turbine fuel (ATF), commercial LPG cylinders, and other petroleum products. Sources told that the latest hike only partially compensates oil companies for losses incurred on domestic LPG sales.
Oil Marketing Companies Continue to Face Heavy Losses
Despite the increase, state-run oil marketing companies are reportedly still selling domestic LPG cylinders below cost. According to industry estimates, oil companies were losing around ₹703 on every domestic LPG cylinder sold before the latest price revision. Officials said the new rates help reduce those losses but do not completely eliminate them.
Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Rise Sharply
While domestic LPG prices have increased, commercial LPG cylinders used by hotels, restaurants, and businesses have witnessed even steeper hikes in recent months. The latest increase took effect on June 1, when the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder was raised by ₹42 to ₹3,113.
Commercial LPG Prices Witness Multiple Hikes in 2026
Commercial LPG rates have seen repeated revisions this year.
Recent Commercial LPG Price Increases:
- June 2026: ₹42 hike per 19-kg cylinder
- May 2026: ₹1,000 hike
- April 2026: ₹195.5 hike
- March 2026: ₹114.5 hike
The repeated increases reflect ongoing pressure on global energy markets and supply chains, which continue to influence fuel pricing in India.
Rising Fuel Costs Continue to Impact Consumers
The latest LPG price hike adds to a broader trend of rising fuel costs across sectors. With global energy supplies remaining under strain, consumers and businesses alike continue to face higher expenses for essential fuels, including cooking gas.
As international geopolitical tensions persist, market watchers expect energy prices to remain volatile in the coming months.
