US-Iran Peace Deal Ceremony in Switzerland Reportedly Cancelled as Talks Enter Technical Phase
Plans for a US-Iran peace signing ceremony in Switzerland have been cancelled as the process shifts to technical negotiations involving multiple countries over the next 60 days.

Plans for a high-profile signing ceremony of the proposed US-Iran peace agreement in Switzerland have reportedly been cancelled, according to diplomatic sources familiar with the matter. The event, which was scheduled for June 19, was expected to bring senior leaders from both the United States and Iran together, but they are now no longer expected to travel.

Instead of a formal public signing, the process is now shifting into a detailed technical negotiation phase. According to sources, advance teams from the United States, Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan are already present in Bürgenstock and Zurich to manage the transition.

Officials say the focus will now remain on resolving outstanding issues through multiple rounds of technical talks over the next 60 days, as both sides attempt to refine the framework of the agreement.

Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif Cancels Switzerland Visit

The change in diplomatic plans has also impacted Pakistan’s involvement. Shehbaz Sharif has reportedly cancelled his scheduled visit to Switzerland. Officials said the visit was no longer necessary after key objectives linked to the earlier Memorandum of Understanding had already been achieved. With negotiations now moving into a technical phase, Pakistani authorities stated that the prime minister’s direct participation is no longer required at this stage.

Pakistan and Iran Discuss Future Cooperation

The latest developments follow recent high-level talks between Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. During these discussions, Iranian leaders reportedly appreciated Pakistan’s leadership, including Field Marshal Asim Munir, for supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions. Pakistan has also pledged support for Iran’s reconstruction efforts as part of broader cooperation between the two countries. Both sides have agreed to arrange future reciprocal visits, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and improving regional stability.

Technical Phase to Shape Final Agreement

Diplomatic sources say the upcoming phase of negotiations will focus on technical details and implementation mechanisms of the proposed agreement. Rather than a single signing event, the process will now involve several rounds of discussions over the coming weeks. Officials from all participating countries are expected to work through unresolved issues step by step, with the aim of finalising a workable and lasting framework for peace.
