It was the first time Bangladesh had been dismissed for less than 100 in both innings of a Test match. Australia's winning total of 210 was also only the fourth-lowest score by a team in an innings victory. Nathan Lyon completed the demolition after tea by taking two quick wickets. His efforts ensured that Bangladesh could not make Australia bat again.

Australia started the day with only two wickets remaining in their first innings. However, Cameron Green and Lyon added valuable runs to extend their advantage. The pair shared a 38-run partnership for the ninth wicket. Green also completed an important half-century and played confidently during the morning session. Starc Destroys Bangladesh Top Order

Starc immediately put Bangladesh under pressure. Shadman Islam was beaten by another delivery that moved away from him. Marnus Labuschagne took a straightforward catch at point to end his innings. Starc struck again with the very next ball. Mominul Haque left a fuller delivery that moved back into him and clipped the off stump. Tanzid Hasan then became the next victim. He attempted to hook Pat Cummins in his first over but picked out the fielder at deep fine leg. Najmul Hossain Shanto tried to fight back. He attacked Starc and struck him for five boundaries. Litton Das followed Shanto back to the pavilion. Starc forced him to edge a delivery to third slip, giving the fast bowler his third duck of the match. Litton's struggles were particularly severe because he failed to score a single run during the entire Test series. Mehidy Hasan Miraz then edged a wide delivery from Cummins. The Australia captain had bowled economically before producing another important breakthrough. Hasan Mahmud became Cummins' next victim after he gloved a sharp bouncer towards short leg. Starc returned for another spell and removed Taijul Islam. The wicket completed his fourth 10-wicket match haul in Test cricket.

Lyon and Smith Finish the Match

Bangladesh survived only three balls after the tea break. Lyon claimed his second wicket when Taskin Ahmed edged the ball to Steven Smith at first slip. The catch was significant for Smith because it was his 219th in Test cricket. That moved Smith level with Joe Root at the top of the list for most Test catches. Starc then completed his own impressive fielding contribution. Shoriful Islam was one of the few bright spots for Bangladesh. He produced career-best bowling figures of 7 for 47 and played a major role in restricting Australia's first innings. However, his outstanding performance could not prevent Bangladesh from suffering a heavy defeat. For Australia, the match belonged to Starc. His 10 wickets, combined with Lyon's effective bowling and Australia's lower-order resistance, helped the hosts recover from their Darwin defeat in emphatic fashion. The victory levelled the series and gave Australia a strong response after Bangladesh had produced a major upset in the opening Test.
