England Make Strong Start in Final ODI

England's opening pair of Dunkley and Maia Bouchier started cautiously against Ireland's bowlers. Bouchier and Dunkley had previously shared a 143-run opening partnership in the first ODI. However, they found scoring difficult during the opening four overs of this match.

Veteran seamer Arlene Kelly, who was playing her final professional match before retirement, joined forces with Orla Prendergast to keep the England openers quiet. England scored only 14 runs during the first four overs.

Bouchier then changed the momentum. She smashed Prendergast for three boundaries in five deliveries. Dunkley followed her partner's attack in the next over, hitting Prendergast for two fours from three balls. England moved to 61 without loss after 10 overs and appeared to be in complete control.

Maia Bouchier Falls After Useful Partnership

The right-hander eventually reached her second ODI century. Her 119-run innings became the best international score of her career and gave England the foundation for a commanding total.

However, Ireland fought back strongly during the closing stages. Murray played a major role in England's collapse, taking three wickets in a short period. England went from 260 for 4 to being bowled out for 291, leaving Ireland with a challenging target.

Ireland Struggle in the Run Chase

Ireland never looked capable of seriously threatening England's total. Their innings lacked the momentum required for a successful chase, particularly after England's bowlers made early breakthroughs.

Lauren Filer and Mady Villiers shared six wickets between them and played a key role in dismissing Ireland for 176, leaving them 115 runs short of the target with 5.4 overs still remaining.

Lauren Filer Makes Immediate Impact

Filer returned to England's XI after Issy Wong was rested following her five-wicket haul in the previous match. The seamer immediately made an impact by dismissing Ireland captain Gaby Lewis cheaply.

Filer maintained pressure throughout her spell and finished with impressive figures of 3/27. Her early wickets prevented Ireland from building the kind of partnership they needed to stay in the contest.
