Trump Discusses Possible Iran Strikes With Netanyahu Amid Rising Tensions
Trump reportedly discusses fresh military strikes against Iran with Netanyahu, claiming the US can destroy the remaining Iranian nuclear sites within 10 minutes as diplomatic efforts continue.
US President Donald Trump has reportedly discussed plans for fresh military strikes against Iran with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Tensions continue to rise across West Asia as Washington considers its next move. According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump outlined possible plans to resume attacks on Iranian targets during a phone call with Netanyahu. The reported conversation came days after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Trump preferred a diplomatic solution to the Iran conflict. However, Rubio also said the US could achieve its objectives through military action. Trump also raised the possibility of fresh strikes during an overnight address on Sunday. He claimed that the US military could destroy the remaining parts of Iran's nuclear programme within minutes. "There are 'one or two sites' left that need to be dealt with, including Pickaxe Mountain. We can do it in ten minutes. We have a plan for it, and we can execute it very quickly," the president said. His remarks attracted attention because he had spoken with Netanyahu shortly before the address. The timing has raised questions about possible US-Israeli discussions on another round of attacks against Iran.

Trump Says Iran Wants a Deal

Despite discussing fresh military action, Trump claimed that Iran wanted to reach an agreement with Washington. He said Tehran had shown interest in negotiations but questioned whether its leaders would honour any deal. "They want to reach an agreement, and we will see what happens. Things are moving along fine, but they are not really reliable. They reach an agreement and then back out. They want to reach an agreement, and we will see if they actually sign it," he said. Trump's comments suggest that his administration continues to consider diplomacy while keeping military action as an option. He has repeatedly expressed interest in resolving the conflict through negotiations. However, his latest warning about Iran's nuclear facilities shows that Washington has not ruled out further attacks.

Trump Discusses Military Options With Top Defence Officials

Trump has also discussed possible military operations with senior US defence officials. Earlier this week, he held discussions with Central Command (CENTCOM) commander Admiral Brad Cooper, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine. The discussions focused on possible military responses against Iran as tensions continued across West Asia. These meetings indicate that the US military leadership is examining different options in case Washington decides to restart its operations.

Pentagon Strengthens US Military Presence in West Asia

Meanwhile, the Pentagon has increased its military preparations across West Asia. According to earlier reports, the US military has deployed additional air defence systems, ammunition and military equipment in the region in recent weeks. The Pentagon has also moved personnel and military assets away from certain bases that could face Iranian retaliation. These steps suggest that Washington is preparing for a possible escalation while continuing to explore diplomatic options. Trump's discussions with Netanyahu and senior military officials have added to uncertainty over the next phase of the Iran conflict. Although the US administration continues to consider negotiations, it has not ruled out fresh military strikes against Tehran.
