Fans were shocked when Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth performed on stage with British singer Ed Sheeran in front of 70,000 people in Bucharest, Romania, during Sheeran’s +–=÷× Tour. Known for playing Thor, Hemsworth swapped his superhero role to try something entirely new—playing drums live, despite having no previous experience.
Surprise Cameo Revealed in Docuseries Trailer
This unexpected performance came to light through the trailer of Hemsworth’s upcoming docuseries, Limitless: Live Better Now, which released on July 17. Directed by Kit Lynch-Robinson, the series follows Hemsworth as he pushes himself physically and mentally to improve his health and strength. Viewers will see how much effort Hemsworth invested in learning to play drums for Sheeran’s concert.
Sheeran Challenges Hemsworth
In one scene, Ed Sheeran casually challenges Hemsworth during a walk in the field, saying, “You should learn the drums to play a song with me on my stadium tour.” From there, Hemsworth begins intense practice sessions. He trains with Ben Gordon, drummer for the Australian band Parkway Drive. Though Hemsworth admits he is “struggling,” he refuses to quit.
Recognizing his effort, Sheeran tells him, “I think this actually might be the most difficult thing you do.”
Live Performance and Humorous Reward
Eventually, Hemsworth overcomes the challenge and plays live on stage, receiving loud cheers from the audience. To celebrate his achievement, Sheeran jokingly awards him a ‘Participation Award for Drumming Excellence’ trophy.
What to Expect in Limitless
Limitless: Live Better Now is a three-part series where Hemsworth takes on extreme challenges beyond drumming. He undergoes Special Forces training in South Korea, climbs a 600-foot wall in the Swiss Alps, and works with doctors, MMA fighters, and cognitive scientists. His goal is to boost brain health, focus, memory, and mental strength.
In the trailer, Hemsworth says, “The key to unlocking these benefits for all of us is finding the edge of our comfort zone.”
