Mira Sorvino will make her Broadway debut this fall as Roxie Hart in Chicago, fulfilling a lifelong dream to sing and dance on stage.

Mira Sorvino will soon fulfill a lifelong dream. The Academy Award winner will step onto Broadway this fall. She will play Roxie Hart in Chicago from September 15 to November 2 at the Ambassador Theatre.

“I have wished to dance and sing in a Broadway musical since I was a small child. To join ‘Chicago,’ such a legendary show, and such an incredible cast past and present, is literally a dream come true,” Sorvino said on Wednesday.

A Timeless Musical

Set in the 1920s, Chicago offers a sharp satire of fame. It shows how the media and show business turn criminals into celebrities. Moreover, the production dazzles with Bob Fosse-inspired choreography, daring costumes, and hit songs like All That Jazz and Cell Block Tango.

The Story of Roxie Hart

In the musical, Roxie Hart is a housewife and dancer. However, her life takes a dark turn when she kills her lover after he plans to leave her. As a result, she hires Chicago’s slickest lawyer to escape conviction. Together, they manipulate the public, mislead the press, and outwit her rival Velma Kelly.

Sorvino’s Acclaimed Career

Over the years, Sorvino has built an impressive résumé. She won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a Critics’ Choice Award for Mighty Aphrodite. Furthermore, she appeared in Spike Lee’s Summer of Sam, Antoine Fuqua’s Replacement Killers, and Robert Redford’s Quiz Show. She also starred in the cult comedy Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion.

For example, Pamela Anderson, Melanie Griffith, Ashley Graham, Christie Brinkley, Marilu Henner, Brooke Shields, Lisa Rinna, Gretchen Mol, Ashlee Simpson, Brandy Norwood, Jennifer Nettles, and Robin Givens have all stepped into the role. Now, Sorvino will proudly join that list.
