At least six people died, and several others were injured when two private buses collided head-on near Achampatti on Monday morning. The crash occurred on the Tenkasi–Madurai road, leaving both vehicles severely damaged.
Reports indicate that one bus was travelling from Madurai to Senkottai, while the other was heading from Tenkasi toward Kovilpatti. As a result of the collision, local residents panicked. Shattered glass and debris covered the road, and traffic immediately came to a halt.
Quick Rescue and Hospitalisation
As soon as authorities received news of the crash, police and medical teams rushed to the site. They shifted the injured to the Government District Headquarters Hospital in Tenkasi for treatment.
Early reports suggest that the Madurai-bound bus was speeding recklessly. Consequently, officials warned that the death toll might rise, as several passengers remain in critical condition.
