Google Celebrates India’s 77th Republic Day with ISRO-Themed Doodle
Google marked India’s 77th Republic Day in 2026 with a special ISRO-themed doodle celebrating the nation’s space achievements, innovation, and growing global leadership in science and technology.
On the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day, Google paid tribute to the nation with a special doodle inspired by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The creative artwork highlights India’s key achievements in space, including landmark missions like Gaganyaan and Chandrayaan. The doodle features satellites, planetary orbits, and other space-themed elements seamlessly integrated into the letters of “GOOGLE,” colored in the national tricolour of orange, white, and green. It symbolizes India’s progress in science, technology, and space exploration, reflecting the country’s growing influence in the global space arena. Clicking on the doodle takes users to Google’s official page, which reads: “Happy India Republic Day. ISRO’s consistent achievements have made it a fitting inspiration for a national celebration like Republic Day.”

ISRO Plans More Satellite Launches in 2026

ISRO continues to expand India’s space ambitions. On Saturday, ISRO Chief V Narayanan shared, “We are planning to send a lot of satellites this year. A lot of work is going on.” The agency’s upcoming launches for 2026 highlight India’s commitment to innovation, technological self-reliance, and global leadership in space research.

Why ISRO Features Prominently on Republic Day

ISRO represents the spirit of a “New India”—self-reliant, innovative, and future-focused. Its successes in space reflect India’s technological strength and national pride, aligning perfectly with the values celebrated on Republic Day. By showcasing ISRO in its doodle, Google underscores how science and space technology are integral to India’s nation-building journey.

Key Achievements of ISRO

India’s space agency has achieved several remarkable milestones, including:
  • Successful lunar and planetary missions like Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan.
  • Cost-effective satellite launches serving both domestic and international clients.
  • Advanced launch vehicles and rockets, showcasing cutting-edge aerospace technology.
  • Expanding India’s role in global space research and innovation.
  • These accomplishments are creatively represented in the doodle through visuals of spacecraft, orbits, planets, and futuristic imagery.

Why Republic Day Is Celebrated

Republic Day, observed on January 26, marks the day the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950. Although India achieved independence on August 15, 1947, the country initially continued to follow colonial laws. Republic Day commemorates the moment India officially became a sovereign and democratic republic, replacing old laws with its own Constitution. The date also honors Purna Swaraj, or Complete Independence, declared by Indian leaders on January 26, 1930, making it a historic symbol of India’s freedom and democratic ideals.
