US President Donald Trump said he is not worried about the final result of the ongoing talks between the United States and Iran in Pakistan. He made it clear that, in his view, the US has already achieved success in the conflict.
“Whether we make a deal or not makes no difference to me. The reason is because we’ve won,” Trump said, reducing the importance of the ceasefire discussions led by Vice President JD Vance.
US–Iran Talks Continue Amid “Very Deep Negotiations”
Trump acknowledged that discussions with Iran are serious and ongoing. He described them as “very deep negotiations,” even as uncertainty remains about whether a final agreement will be reached.
At the same time, the US is continuing military operations in the Strait of Hormuz, where suspected mines are creating risks for global oil and gas shipments. The route remains largely restricted for commercial vessels.
Trump Warns China Over Alleged Arms Support to Iran
Trump issued a direct warning to China over reports that it may be secretly supplying weapons to Iran. “If China does that, China can have big problems,” he said before leaving the White House, linking his statement to intelligence reports about possible arms transfers.
US Intelligence Flags Possible Chinese Air Defence Transfers
Recent intelligence reports suggest Iran could soon receive advanced air defence systems from China. These weapons may be sent through third countries to hide their origin, making it harder for the US to track them and enforce sanctions. Experts believe such systems could improve Iran’s ability to defend against US air attacks and increase regional tensions.
Strait of Hormuz Remains a Key Flashpoint
The Strait of Hormuz continues to be a major area of concern. Trump said the US military is searching for mines in the region to ensure safe passage for oil tankers.
He also claimed Iran may have placed “a couple of mines,” while US forces are working to keep shipping lanes open for global energy supplies.
China Rejects Claims, Calls Them “Baseless”
China has strongly denied the allegations. The Chinese embassy in Washington said it had “never provided weapons to any party to the conflict” and warned against “baseless allegations” and “sensationalism.”
Officials in Beijing also said such claims could harm diplomatic efforts, especially ahead of Trump’s expected meeting with President Xi Jinping.
Rising Tensions Could Affect US–China Relations
If the allegations are proven true, US officials believe it could significantly worsen relations with China. It may also impact upcoming talks between Washington and Beijing on trade, technology, and security issues.
Both countries already have major disagreements over sanctions and military activities in the region.
Iran Strengthens Defence With Support From Allies
Due to heavy Western sanctions, Iran depends on countries like China and Russia for economic and military support. These nations help Iran stay connected globally and provide access to defence technology.
Reports suggest the possible weapons could include MANPADS, which are portable missiles used to target low-flying aircraft.
Iran Claims Use of “Advanced Defence System”
Iran has not revealed full details of its defence systems. However, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said a “new, advanced defence system” helped during recent clashes with US aircraft.
Experts believe this system could either be supplied by China or developed locally with upgrades.
US Maintains Pressure Strategy on Tehran
Trump repeated that the US is continuing negotiations but insisted the outcome is not crucial.
“Maybe they make a deal, maybe they don't — regardless of what happens, we win,” he said, adding that it “makes no difference” whether an agreement is reached.
US officials see the mine-clearing operations and concerns over Chinese weapons support as part of a broader strategy to maintain pressure on Iran.
