Strong Message Against Violence
At the same time, Modi strongly condemned the incident. He emphasised the importance of protecting democratic values and ensuring safety at public events.
“Violence has no place in a democracy and must be unequivocally condemned,” he said, sending a clear message against such acts.
Shooting Scare at White House Correspondents' Dinner
Earlier, a tense situation unfolded during the White House Correspondents' Dinner, where Trump and several dignitaries were present. After gunshots were heard near the venue, security teams quickly evacuated Trump and other attendees. Videos showed guests taking cover as panic spread following the loud noise.
However, both the president and vice president escaped unharmed. Secret Service agents acted immediately, moving onto the dais and escorting Trump away from the area.
Although officials stopped the suspect before causing major harm, the incident has raised fresh concerns about security at high-profile gatherings.
Global Leaders Condemn the Incident
Meanwhile, world leaders also reacted strongly. Emmanuel Macron described the attack as “unacceptable.”
“The armed attack targeting the president of the United States last night is unacceptable. Violence has no place in a democracy,” he said on X.
