White House Dinner Postponed After Gunfire Scare
Authorities postponed the White House Correspondents’ Dinner after a shooting scare forced the evacuation of Donald Trump and top officials.

The annual White House Correspondents' Dinner has been postponed and will be rescheduled after a serious security incident disrupted the evening.

Officials took this decision after law enforcement advised clearing the venue as a precaution. Authorities are still reviewing the situation to determine what exactly happened.

Donald Trump Confirms Safety and Rescheduling

US President Donald Trump confirmed that all senior leaders were safe following the incident. He said the First Lady, the Vice President, and Cabinet members were unharmed.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “Law Enforcement has requested that we leave the premises, consistent with protocol, which we will do, immediately. I will be giving a press conference in 30 minutes from the White House Press Briefing Room. The First Lady, plus the Vice President, and all Cabinet members, are in perfect condition. We will be speaking to you in a half an hour. I have spoken with all the representatives in charge of the event, and we will be rescheduling within 30 days.”

Soon after, officials began preparing for a press conference at the White House Press Briefing Room, where Trump is expected to share further details.

Gunshots Trigger Panic and Evacuation

Earlier in the evening, Trump and several senior officials were rushed out of the venue after reports of multiple gunshots nearby.

Secret Service agents and other security personnel quickly entered the banquet hall as panic spread among attendees. Guests took cover under tables while officers instructed them to stay down.

Although the situation caused widespread alarm, there were no immediate reports of injuries.

Trump Praises Security Response

After the incident, Trump shared another update, confirming that authorities had brought the situation under control. He praised the quick action of security forces and said the suspect had been apprehended.

“Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we “LET THE SHOW GO ON" but, will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement. They will make a decision shortly. Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and we'll just, plain, have to do it again,” he posted.

Witnesses Report Multiple Gunshots

Several people at the event said they heard between five and eight gunshots. The hall, which had hundreds of journalists, celebrities, and political leaders waiting for the President’s speech, was quickly evacuated.

Security forces, including National Guard personnel, moved into the venue. Officials escorted attendees out and did not allow them to return. At the same time, security remained tight in the surrounding area.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities have not yet confirmed full details of the incident. A law enforcement official said a shooter was involved, but further information is still awaited.

Investigations are ongoing, and officials are expected to provide more clarity after reviewing all aspects of the situation.
