Gujarat Titans crushed Rajasthan Royals by 77 runs in the 52nd match of IPL 2026 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. After being invited to bat first, Gujarat Titans posted their highest IPL total outside Ahmedabad thanks to explosive half-centuries from Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. The opening pair added 118 runs and laid the foundation for Gujarat’s massive score of 229/4 in 20 overs. Brijesh Sharma (2/47 in 4 overs) remained the most successful bowler for Rajasthan Royals, while Ravindra Jadeja and Yash Punja took one wicket each.
While chasing, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gave Rajasthan Royals a flying start alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. Sooryavanshi scored a quickfire 36 off 16 balls before getting dismissed in the third over. Despite losing wickets, Rajasthan Royals were cruising at 86/3 before Rashid Khan started dismantling their batting lineup in the eighth over. Rashid Khan (4/33 in 4 overs) dismissed Dhruv Jurel and Donovan Ferreira in the space of one ball, leaving Rajasthan Royals struggling at 91/5 after 7.5 overs.
After that, Rashid Khan, along with Jason Holder (3/12 in 2.3 overs) and Kagiso Rabada (2/33 in 3 overs), dismantled Rajasthan Royals’ batting lineup. As a result, Rajasthan Royals were bowled out for 152 in 16.3 overs and lost the match by a huge margin. Ravindra Jadeja remained the top scorer for Rajasthan Royals.
The victory pushed Gujarat Titans to second place on the points table with 14 points. It was also their fourth straight win as they continued their strong run in the tournament.
Gill and Sudharsan Dominate the Powerplay
Jaipur was painted pink for the match as Rajasthan Royals wore special jerseys to support their women’s empowerment initiative. Gujarat’s openers looked equally comfortable in the conditions and dominated from the beginning.
The first over itself turned dramatic as Jofra Archer needed 11 deliveries to complete it. The over included nine extras and became the longest opening over in IPL history. Without taking many risks, Gill and Sudharsan collected easy runs and raced to 18 without loss after the first over.
Rajasthan’s bowlers repeatedly strayed onto the pads or bowled short deliveries that sailed over the batters’ heads. Gill and Sudharsan took full advantage and mainly attacked straight down the ground. By the end of the powerplay, Gujarat had stormed to 82 for no loss. The opening stand also became their ninth century partnership in the IPL, placing them second on the all-time list behind Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.
Both batters reached their half-centuries in just 30 balls.
Rajasthan Pull Things Back in Middle Overs
Despite the explosive start, Rajasthan managed to slow Gujarat down during the middle phase. Yash Raj Punja and Ravindra Jadeja bowled disciplined spells and prevented the batters from finding easy boundaries.
Gill also appeared to struggle with a leg injury while running between wickets. Punja eventually dismissed Sudharsan for 55 off 36 balls after he holed out to long-on. Soon after, Jadeja removed Jos Buttler with a quicker delivery that forced him to mistime a drive to long-off.
Tewatia and Washington Finish Strong
Even after slowing down, Gujarat still looked set for a total above 220. However, Rajasthan briefly pulled things back at the death. Brijesh Sharma bowled an excellent 19th over, conceding only four runs while dismissing Jason Holder with smart variations and yorkers.
But Rajasthan lost control in the final over. Rahul Tewatia moved around the crease brilliantly and smashed consecutive sixes. Washington Sundar then added another maximum as Gujarat finished strongly on 229 for 4.
Sooryavanshi’s Quickfire Knock Ends Suddenly
Rajasthan’s chase started aggressively through teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The youngster continued his fearless approach and smashed Mohammed Siraj for a six off the very first ball he faced. Siraj immediately responded with a sharp yorker that cramped the batter. Even though Sooryavanshi looked uncomfortable while running between wickets, he still attacked aggressively and struck three boundaries in four balls against Siraj.
However, Siraj bounced back with a fiery short ball that forced Sooryavanshi into a mistimed hook shot. The catch was safely taken at square leg, ending a blistering innings of 36 from just 16 balls. Siraj and Kagiso Rabada also created an IPL record by becoming the first bowling pair to bowl throughout the powerplay in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Dhruv Jurel kept Rajasthan alive with an attacking innings and hammered Siraj for 22 runs in one over. But his counterattack did not last long.
Rashid Khan Destroys Rajasthan’s Chase
With Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal dismissed, Rajasthan depended heavily on Jurel and Jadeja to accelerate the innings. That was when Rashid Khan completely changed the game. The Afghan spinner generated sharp turn from the surface and relied more on his leg-breaks than googlies, something he rarely does. Jurel tried to attack but missed a slog as Rashid shattered his stumps. Soon after, Donovan Ferreira was beaten by spin and bowled through his defence.
Harsh Dubey then missed another big shot and became Rashid’s third straight wicket. Although Jadeja briefly fought back with a six over backward square leg, Rashid trapped him lbw on the very next delivery.
Rajasthan’s resistance completely collapsed after that. Holder cleaned up the tail quickly by taking the final three wickets in just five deliveries as Rajasthan suffered their third defeat in four matches.
Chasing a huge target of 230, Rajasthan were 86 for 3 after seven overs and still looked capable of pulling off the chase. However, Rashid’s game-changing four-wicket spell broke their momentum and helped Gujarat register a commanding 77-run victory.
Jason Holder also proved to be a silent killer for Gujarat Titans. The pace trio of Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, and Jason Holder has become a major strength for Gujarat Titans. Stay tuned with JUSZNEWS for regular updates!
