Extreme Heat Grips Delhi-NCR, NDMA Warns of Dangerous Hot Winds
Delhi-NCR residents received fresh heatwave alerts as the NDMA warned of extremely hot winds and the IMD predicted temperatures could rise to 46°C.

Residents of Noida and Ghaziabad received another weather warning on Wednesday as severe heatwave conditions continued across Delhi-NCR. Authorities warned people about extremely hot and dry winds that could feel even harsher than normal loo conditions.

The alert came from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). It warned several districts in Uttar Pradesh about dangerous weather conditions and intense heat.

NDMA warns of extreme hot winds

The NDMA alert covered Aligarh, Etah, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hathras, Kanpur Nagar, Mainpuri, Mathura, Mirzapur and Bhadohi.

Officials warned residents about extremely hot and dry winds. The message used the phrase “loo se bhi bheeshan loo,” which means winds even more severe than regular loo conditions.

Many residents received the warning directly on their mobile phones as authorities stepped up efforts to alert people about the worsening heat.

IMD issues orange alert for Delhi-NCR

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for Delhi and nearby NCR areas due to extreme heat and loo conditions.

The weather department said temperatures across Delhi-NCR could continue rising over the next five days. The IMD warned that the heat could affect normal daily activities and advised people to remain prepared.

An orange alert from the IMD signals the need for caution and preparedness because weather conditions may worsen further.

Temperatures may touch 46°C

Delhi has already recorded its hottest day of the season with the temperature reaching 44.5 degrees Celsius. However, the IMD said temperatures could climb even higher and touch 46 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

The department also predicted strong surface winds from the northwest direction during afternoon hours. Wind speeds could reach up to 20 kilometres per hour. The IMD said these hot winds are likely to affect several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Odisha.
