Mohsen Rezaei Says Iran Has Emerged Victorious, Calls Frozen Assets a Test of Trust for Trump
Iranian adviser Mohsen Rezaei claimed Iran has achieved a historic victory, while urging the US to release $24 billion in frozen assets as a crucial test of trust in ongoing negotiations.

Mohsen Rezaei, a military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, said Iran has achieved a historic military success. He argued that the current conflict differs from Iran’s previous wars. “This is the first time Iran has emerged victorious in wars, while in previous wars Iran has always been defeated," Rezaei told the sources. Meanwhile, negotiations between Iran and the United States remain stalled over several unresolved issues.

Iran Ties Progress in US Talks to Release of Frozen Assets

Iranian officials said Tehran and Washington have not reached an agreement on the release of $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets. Rezaei described the issue as a key test of trust between the two countries. He said future progress in negotiations depends on resolving the dispute.

“If Trump takes the negotiations seriously, $24 billion is not much to America. If he wants to reach an agreement with Iran, this $24 billion is a test of trust that Iran wants to have with Trump. This is a test that America must pass, and the path will be open. This is our money, not America’s money", he said. As a result, the frozen assets issue remains one of the biggest obstacles in the ongoing talks.

Iran Warns of Escalation if Negotiations Collapse

At the same time, Rezaei warned that tensions could rise if negotiations fail. He said Iran would respond to any renewed military action by the United States. “We will give another dimension to the war by attacking these other American bases that we have been attacking so far," he told CNN. His comments reflected Iran's position that additional pressure or military action could lead to a broader confrontation.

Rezaei Says Iran Is Ready for a Wider Conflict

Although Rezaei said the chances of war remain low, he stressed that Iran is prepared if diplomatic efforts break down. “Then the world will understand Iran’s true capabilities, because our land power is many times greater than our missiles," he said. He argued that Iran's military strength extends beyond its missile capabilities.

Iran Dismisses Possibility of Trump-Khamenei Meeting

Rezaei also rejected speculation about a possible meeting between US President Donald Trump and Iran’s leadership. According to him, such a meeting is not under consideration at this stage. “This will not happen, right now we are in the first stage of negotiations and Trump has brought the negotiations to a standstill. This will not happen," he said. His remarks came amid reports suggesting the possibility of high-level talks between Washington and Tehran.

Iran Questions US Reliability in Future Agreements

Furthermore, Rezaei said Iran expects the United States to show commitment before any agreement can move forward. He also referred to Washington’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal and said it remains a source of concern for Tehran. Iranian officials continue to maintain that trust-building measures are necessary before a broader agreement can be reached.

Sanctions and Strait of Hormuz Remain Key Obstacles

Despite ongoing discussions, negotiations between Iran and the United States remain deadlocked. The two countries continue to disagree over sanctions relief, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and strategic maritime issues involving the Strait of Hormuz. Consequently, these unresolved disputes continue to delay any breakthrough in talks between Tehran and Washington.
