Taylor Swift Cheers for Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s New Album
Taylor Swift praised Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s new album while fans criticized the lack of industry support and promotion.

Taylor Swift publicly praised I Said I Love You First, the latest album by Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco. On Instagram Stories, she expressed her excitement, writing, “[Selena Gomez] & [Benny Blanco] I LOVE THIS ALBUM SO MUCH OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDD.”

Gomez’s First Album in Years

This album marks Gomez’s first major release since Rare in 2020. Because of this, fans expected widespread support from fellow artists. However, many were disappointed. A fan account on X complained, “No celebrity supporting Selena Gomez’s new album except Becky G. Not Even Taylor Swift.”

Fans Criticize Interscope Records

Meanwhile, frustration grew toward Gomez’s label, Interscope Records. Fans accused the company of not promoting the album enough. One user on X wrote, “[Interscope Records] must really love losing money by not promoting one of their biggest artists.”

Spotify Steps In

Despite the backlash, Spotify helped promote the album. The platform shared a teaser featuring Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco discussing their creative process. Gomez explained, “We’d get up in the morning and have a conversation. But our conversation was never led going, ‘What are we going to write in the album?’” Blanco added, “I was constantly just writing whatever you said wherever we were.”

Taylor Swift’s Record-Breaking Success

At the same time, Taylor Swift continues to dominate the music industry. Recently, the IFPI named her Global Recording Artist of the Year for 2024. This marks her fifth time winning the award. Moreover, her album The Tortured Poets Department topped four IFPI charts: global album, global vinyl album, global streaming album, and global album sales, according to a February 19 statement.
