Earlier, on Saturday, Katz had warned, “Tehran will burn” if Iran continued launching missiles at Israel.
Iran Claims Fire Is Under Control
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that the fire was under control. They cited information from the country’s oil ministry.
Israel Confirms Strikes on Defence Sites
Later, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed they had targeted Tehran. According to their statement, the air force launched intelligence-based airstrikes on several locations. These included Iran’s Ministry of Defense headquarters, The SPND nuclear project office and additional sites linked to nuclear weapon development and archive storage.
Moreover, the IDF said these targets supported Iran’s efforts to obtain nuclear weapons.
Iran Reports More Damage
In addition, Iran’s Tasnim news agency stated that another Israeli strike hit a building of the Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research, a part of the defence ministry.
Leaders Exchange Threats
At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel would strike “every target of the ayatollah regime.” In response, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian promised “a more severe and powerful response” if attacks continued.
Nuclear Talks Canceled
Consequently, the nuclear talks between the US and Iran, scheduled for Sunday, were cancelled. Iran said it would not negotiate under attack.
Israeli Airstrikes Kill Dozens
So far, Israel’s military operation has continued since early Friday. It has targeted Iran’s air defence systems, nuclear facilities, and military bases. As a result, Iranian officials reported that the strikes killed dozens, including senior army officers and atomic scientists.
