The Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express was halted after someone pulled the alarm chain. In response, the train driver followed safety protocols by activating the flasher light and applying the brakes. However, the nearly two-degree curvature of the train track blocked visibility and reduced the braking distance. Railway officials stated, "Both train drivers followed the protocol and did their best to avoid the accident."
Driver Actions and Challenges
The driver of the Karnataka Express saw the flasher light and immediately applied the brakes. However, the curvature of the track obstructed visibility, making it difficult to spot the approaching train in time. Officials added, "If the brakes hadn't been applied, many lives would have been lost. A full-speed train needs at least 650 meters to stop."
Speed and Route Details
Trains in this section of the route travel at speeds exceeding 100 km/h, as it is part of a major trunk route for the Railways.

The tragic incident took place between Maheji and Pardhade stations near Pachora in North Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district at 4:45 pm. It led to 13 deaths and 10 injuries, according to Central Railway officials.
