Smriti Mandhana made history on Saturday by becoming the first Indian woman cricketer to score centuries in all three international formats — Tests, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
Record-Breaking Knock at Trent Bridge
This milestone came during the first T20I match between India Women and England Women at Trent Bridge. Mandhana, who led the team as captain, played an outstanding innings of 112 runs off just 62 balls.
She smashed 15 boundaries and three massive sixes, setting the tone early in the game. Her brilliant batting helped India reach 210 for 5 in 20 overs, which is India’s highest-ever T20I total against England.
A First T20I Century and a Rare Global Feat
Mandhana’s knock was her first T20I century, making her the only Indian woman to score hundreds in all three formats. This is a rare achievement even in global cricket, placing her among a select group of male and female cricketers worldwide.
She played with a mix of style and aggression. Her fearless approach helped her dominate England’s top bowlers, especially spinner Sophie Ecclestone.
Support from the Middle Order
While Mandhana stood tall, she got solid support from Harleen Deol, who scored a quick 43 off 23 balls, and Deepti Sharma, who stayed unbeaten with 7 runs from 3 balls. The Indian team kept a strong scoring rate throughout the innings.
Despite Lauren Bell taking three wickets for England, Mandhana's damage was already done.
A New Chapter in Indian Women’s Cricket
With this century, Mandhana has not only added another milestone to her career but also inspired many young cricketers. Her performance is a reminder of her consistency, boldness, and importance in Indian cricket.
This moment is not just about individual brilliance. It signals new hope and belief for the future of women’s cricket in India.
