Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday. She called him the "epitome of wisdom, nobility, and humility." Sonia described him as her "friend, philosopher, and guide," emphasizing that his passing has left an irreplaceable void in the nation's life.

A Leader of Wisdom and Compassion

Sonia highlighted Manmohan Singh's exceptional qualities, noting, "In Dr. Manmohan Singh's passing, we lost a leader full of wisdom, nobility, and humility." She explained that he served the country wholeheartedly, offering invaluable guidance to the Congress party. His compassion, she said, transformed the lives of millions of Indians, making him deeply loved by the people of India.

A Statesman Respected Worldwide

Furthermore, Sonia acknowledged Singh's broad influence, stating that his advice was highly valued across India’s political spectrum. "His advice, wise counsel, and views were eagerly sought and deeply valued across the political spectrum in our country," she said. She also praised him for his global reputation as a statesman, respected by leaders and scholars alike. His brilliance and distinction brought pride to India.

A Personal Loss to Sonia Gandhi

Sonia also shared that Singh’s death was a deeply personal loss. "He was my friend, philosopher, and guide," she said, remembering his gentle yet firm nature. His dedication to social justice, secularism, and democratic values was steadfast. "To spend any time with him was to come away enlightened by his knowledge, moved by his honesty, and awed by his genuine humility," Sonia reflected.

Manmohan Singh's Final Days

Manmohan Singh passed away at AIIMS, Delhi, late on Thursday at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife and three daughters. Known for his key role in India's economic reforms in 1991, Singh’s leadership significantly contributed to the country's rapid development. In response to his passing, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with many other dignitaries, paid their respects to Singh.
