Triptii Dimri was initially cast alongside Kartik Aaryan in Aashiqui 3. The film was announced last year, and a muhurat shot was taken. However, reports on Tuesday revealed that Dimri is no longer part of the project. The reasons behind her exit differ.
Delay and Role Changes
The film has faced delays, primarily due to a dispute over the title. Some reports suggest that Dimri left the film due to the delays in the shoot. On the other hand, a Hindustan Times report stated that the filmmakers decided not to cast Dimri after her initial look test. The film requires a female lead who can portray innocence. The makers felt that Dimri no longer suited this image, especially after her recent performances.
Image and Box Office Impact
Furthermore, the report mentioned that Dimri’s image transformation after Animal played a significant role in the decision. The team believed she no longer fit the fresh, pure image needed for the romantic film. Additionally, the underperformance of her recent films at the box office influenced the filmmakers' choice.
No Official Statement
As of now, neither Dimri nor the filmmakers have issued an official statement. Therefore, it remains unclear whether the reasons for her exit are a combination of both factors: Dimri’s unwillingness to wait and the makers searching for a "fresher" face. When she was first cast, Dimri was a newcomer, but since then, she has appeared in two other films.
Changes in Production
Originally, Aashiqui 3 was to be co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt. However, in March 2024, Kumar announced that he would produce the film alone and rename it Tu Aashiqui Hai. In contrast, reports in November indicated that Kartik Aaryan wanted the film to remain a part of the Aashiqui franchise. This led to further delays. The film will be directed by Anurag Basu.
