Jamshedpur FC easily defeated Mumbai City FC with a 3-0 win at the Mumbai Football Arena in the
Indian Super League 2024-25 season. This victory marked Jamshedpur's second league double over Mumbai, repeating their success from the 2018-19 season. As a result, Jamshedpur climbed to third place in the standings, earning 27 points from 14 matches. They converted all three shots on target into goals, while Mumbai suffered their third defeat in six home games.
Early Attempts
Initially, Thaer Krouma tried to give Mumbai the lead in the eighth minute. However, his powerful shot flew over the crossbar.
Soon after, Jamshedpur’s Imran Khan dazzled past Sahil Panwar and crossed to Jordan Murray, who was flagged offside.
Second Half Action
To begin the second half, Lallianzuala Chhangte took charge for Mumbai with a solo run and a powerful shot that hit the top of the net.
Then, in the 64th minute, Mohammed Sanan opened the scoring for Jamshedpur. Imran Khan provided a precise cross, and Sanan's touch sent the ball into the top left corner.
Nine minutes later, Stephen Eze’s header from a Javi Hernandez set-piece went wide, but Jamshedpur kept pressing. Meanwhile, Doungel’s introduction added more pressure on Mumbai’s defense.
In the 86th minute, Nikolaos Karelis’s attempt forced a save from Albino Gomes. Immediately, Jamshedpur countered, and Doungel's long pass found Murray, who lobbed the ball over the advancing goalkeeper for the second goal.
Finally, Javi Hernandez wrapped up the win in added time by firing a loose ball into the bottom right corner.
