Indonesian President Joins as Chief Guest
During the event, President Murmu was joined by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the chief guest for this year’s parade. Both leaders arrived at Kartavya Path in a “traditional buggy,” a practice that returned to India after a 40-year gap. Meanwhile, the President’s Bodyguard and India’s seniormost regiment escorted them with precision and grace.
Cultural Performances Add Vibrancy
In addition to the military display, around 300 artists enriched the event with a cultural performance. They played the iconic tune “Sare Jahan Se Achha” using instruments representing various parts of India. This vibrant display highlighted the country’s rich heritage and unity.

Additionally, Lt Col Jas Ram Singh (Retd), a recipient of the Ashok Chakra, was also acknowledged. It is worth mentioning that the Param Vir Chakra honors bravery in the face of the enemy, while the Ashok Chakra recognizes acts of courage in non-combat scenarios.
Highlights of the Parade
This year’s parade featured several firsts. For example, about 10,000 special guests were invited under the “Jan Bhagidari” initiative to ensure inclusivity. Moreover, a tri-services tableau, themed “Shashakt aur Surakshit Bharat” (Empowered and Secure India), was presented for the first time. The tableau depicted a Joint Operation Room, showcasing seamless coordination between the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Finally, the Republic Day celebrations will conclude on January 29 with the Beating Retreat Ceremony at Vijay Chowk. During this iconic event, military bands will perform Indian tunes, symbolizing the end of the grand festivities.
