Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 4 wickets after a disciplined bowling effort and a steady chase with late drama.

Mumbai Indians (MI) outclassed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 4 wickets in the 33rd match of IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. MI bowled well and did not allow any SRH batsman to score freely. Klaasen and Aniket Verma hit a few boundaries in the final overs, which helped SRH cross the 150-run mark. Mumbai Indians chased down the target comfortably, with small contributions from every batsman, although there was some drama towards the end.

Slow Start from SRH

Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma opened the innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Deepak Chahar started with the new ball. On the first delivery, Will Jacks dropped Abhishek Sharma. However, only 5 runs came from the opening over.

Hardik Pandya broke the partnership in the eighth over by dismissing Abhishek Sharma for 40 off 28 balls. Ishan Kishan walked in next and opened his account with a single. Head added another boundary in the same over. SRH reached 65/1 after eight overs.

Middle Overs

In the 10th, Pandya bowled tightly again. Travis Head got a reprieve when Jacks caught him off a no-ball. SRH reached 75/2 after 10 overs. Head had 25 from 25 balls, while Reddy was on 3 from 5.

MI Bowlers Keep It Tight

Trent Boult returned and bowled a tight over, giving away just 6. In the 12th, Jacks finally removed Head for 28 off 29 balls. Heinrich Klaasen came in at No. 5. SKY-Jacks Take Control

In the 13th, Cummins got SKY for 26 off 15. Tilak Varma came in and got off the mark. That over gave SRH some hope. MI were 122/3 after 13 overs.

MI Lose Grip, Then Regain It

Patel bowled the 14th and gave only 5 runs. SRH needed tight overs at this stage. In the 15th, Cummins dismissed Jacks for 36 off 26. Pandya arrived and smashed back-to-back boundaries. MI reached 137/4 after 15. Tilak added a boundary in the 16th off Malinga. In the next over, Pandya hit a flat six and a boundary. MI reached 161/4 after 17.

However, Pandya threw his wicket away when the scores were level and only one run was needed to win. Malinga dismissed him and then trapped Naman Dhir LBW in the same over. MI were suddenly 162/6 after 18 overs. Tilak Varma ended the match in style. He hit the first ball of the 19th over for a boundary. Mumbai Indians won by 4 wickets with an over to spare.

Player of the Match: Will Jacks

Both Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad have strong and explosive batting line-ups. While Sunrisers have players like Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Klaasen, and Ishan Kishan, Mumbai Indians have Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav (SKY), Tilak Varma, and Hardik Pandya. Both teams appear perfectly balanced.

In this match, team effort made the real difference. Mumbai bowled well, the fielders responded brilliantly, and they succeeded in putting pressure on SRH. As a result, SRH batters were forced to wait for loose deliveries. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians executed their bowling plan effectively. Later, they came out and played their natural game. A target of 163 is mentally achievable, especially on the Wankhede pitch, which is known to favor batters. Mumbai clinched the win with small but collective contributions from their batters, despite some late drama. It’s a positive sign for Mumbai. As the league progresses, this strategy could make them increasingly dangerous. Stay tuned with JUSZNEWS for regular updates!
