French Open 2025: Jannik Sinner Outplays Djokovic to Reach First Grand Slam Final
Jannik Sinner beat Novak Djokovic 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(7/3) to reach his first Grand Slam final at the 2025 French Open, setting up a historic showdown with Carlos Alcaraz.

Jannik Sinner produced a top-class performance to beat Novak Djokovic 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(7/3) on Friday. With this win, he reached his first-ever Grand Slam final at the French Open 2025.

After the match, Sinner said, “He is the best player in the history of our sport, playing against him here is amazing.” He also admitted, “Of course I try to not think about this but before coming on court you feel the tension.”

Djokovic Fights, But Falls Short

Throughout the match, Djokovic showed his trademark grit. However, he missed three crucial set points in the third set. As a result, his hopes of a comeback faded.

Now, he will shift focus to Wimbledon. “Obviously Wimbledon is next, which is my childhood favourite tournament,” said Djokovic. “I’m going to do everything possible to get myself ready.”

Looking ahead, he added, “This could have been the last match ever I played here, so I don’t know.”

Sinner Shows Resilience

Sinner dominated the match from the start. Even though Djokovic pushed him, the Italian stayed calm. He immediately broke back after failing to serve out the second set.

Notably, Sinner hit 44 winners across three sets. He also saved three set points in the tenth game of the third set. His strong performance made the difference in key moments.

New Generation Takes Center Stage

Now, Sinner and Alcaraz will face off in Sunday’s final. This will be the first Grand Slam final between two players born in the 2000s.

Sinner, who has not dropped a set in the tournament, wants revenge. Last year, he lost to Alcaraz in the semi-final. He also lost to him in the Italian Open final in May.

“Sunday is going to be very difficult,” Sinner admitted. “I know my head-to-head lately doesn’t look great against Carlos but let’s see what I can do.”
