US President Donald Trump decided to leave the G7 summit one day early due to rising tensions in the Middle East. On Monday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed his early departure and said it would happen "on Monday night."
Earlier that day, Trump used the platform TruthSocial to call on all US citizens in Tehran to leave the city. He warned, “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” and strongly criticized Iran for not accepting a US-brokered nuclear deal. In the same post, he wrote, “Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life.”
Trump made it clear that he would not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons, stating, “Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again!”
Trump Hints at US Action, Avoids Details
During the G7 summit, Trump refused to say if the US would join Israel’s military operation against Iran. Instead, he hinted at upcoming action by saying, “As soon as I leave here, we're going to be doing something. But I have to leave here.”
Fight a Battle of Good and Evil
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Trump for his support during Israel’s strikes on Iran’s military and nuclear sites. In an interview with ABC News, Netanyahu warned, “Today it's Tel Aviv, tomorrow it's New York.”
He acknowledged the US policy of “America First,” but said, “I don't understand America dead. That's what these people want. They chant ‘death to America’.”
Netanyahu described the situation as a moral struggle. He said, “We're doing something in the service of mankind, of humanity and it’s a battle of good against evil.” He added, “America does and should stand with the good. That’s what President Trump is doing and I deeply appreciate his support.”
Conflict Between Israel and Iran Escalates
For the fourth straight day on Monday, Israel and Iran continued to exchange fire. Both countries have warned each other of serious consequences, and neither side appears ready to back down.
