US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that Iran and Israel had agreed to a ceasefire. According to him, the 12-day war would end gradually within 24 hours. He shared the news on Truth Social.
He wrote, "CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE... for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!"
He claimed Iran would begin the ceasefire, followed by Israel 12 hours later. Eventually, the truce would be official after 24 hours.
Iran Denies Any Agreement
Shortly after Trump’s post, Iran rejected his claim. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi responded on X. He wrote, "As of now, there is NO 'agreement' on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations." He clarified that Iran would only stop responding if Israel ended its “illegal aggression” by 4 am Tehran time. "The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later," he added.
As Iran has repeatedly made clear: Israel launched war on Iran, not the other way around.

Israel Remains Silent
So far, Israel has not issued an official confirmation or denial. However, Hebrew media reported that Israeli officials believe Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is willing to follow Trump’s plan. But this is only if Iran halts missile strikes.
As reported by AP, the Israeli military refused to comment. Additionally, the Prime Minister's office did not respond to questions.
Iran Struck a US Military Base
Just hours before Trump’s ceasefire claim, Iran launched a missile attack on the al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which is used by the US military. Both Trump and Qatari officials said the strike caused no casualties.
Tensions Still Remain
According to Trump, the ceasefire proves that his decision to strike Iranian nuclear facilities was correct.
He stated, "This is a war that could have gone on for years and destroyed the entire Middle East — but it didn’t, and never will."
Nevertheless, Iran’s denial and Israel’s silence leave the situation unclear. Although Trump has spoken of peace, the region remains tense. The next 24 hours may determine whether the ceasefire holds or not.
