Selena Gomez Highlights Mental Health Mission
At the same time, Gomez chose to use her birthday to promote a cause close to her. She celebrated five years of the Rare Impact Fund, which helps young people with mental health support.
She posted a picture of herself holding a cake with pickle-shaped candles and wrote, “Mental health has always been deeply personal to me, and I wanted to build something that could create lasting change.”
Rare Impact Fund’s Work So Far
Launched in 2020, the Rare Impact Fund has already helped over 2 million young people. It has also supported 30 mental health organizations worldwide.
On her birthday, Gomez introduced a new program under the fund called the Rare Impact Fund Giving Circle.
A New Initiative for Community Support
The Giving Circle is meant to create a group-driven effort. People can join together to support mental health-focused organizations.
In her message, Gomez explained, “It’s about believing in the power of community to create lasting change. Thank you for showing up, for each both, and for the next generation. This is what rare impact looks like.”
Looking Ahead
In a statement to PEOPLE, Gomez said, “Five years in, I’m so proud of the impact we’ve all made together and excited for The Giving Circle and other initiatives we are planning.”
